DSU spikers roll to victory over Presentation (S.D.)

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Dakota State headed to the Strode Center Wednesday night to face NCAA Division III Presentation (S.D.). The Trojans amassed 28 kills with three attack errors in the first two sets and swept Saints in three straight sets.
DSU snapped their four-match losing streak with the win and improved their overall record to 5-10. Presentation suffered their fourth straight defeat and dropped their record to 1-8.
The Trojans had 16 kills, two attack errors and recorded a killing efficiency of .636 as they rolled to a 25-11 first set victory.
DSU continued the same in the second set as they recorded 12 kills, one attack error and a killing efficiency of .500. The Trojans won the second set by a score of 25-13 while PC recorded a attack percentage of .071.
Dakota State struggled in the third set as both teams traded leads. With the score tied at 19-19, PC used a 5-2 scoring team to grab a 24-21 lead. The Trojans rallied back and saved three set points from the Saints by two consecutive attack errors by PC and a DSU kill to tie the third set at 24-24. Dakota State nailed down three straight kills to take the third set (27-25) and secure the match victory.
Kristen DiPaola led the Trojans’ offense with 18 kills and a killing efficiency of .419. She had 11 digs. Stephanie Kruggel added 10 kills, eight digs and four service aces. Lauren LaBar had seven kills and three service aces. Stacey Schuller contributed 33 set assists.
For PC, Megan Goedert had nine kills. Kelli Boekelheide added seven kills. Mo Bunney had 12 digs. Haley Boisjolie had 17 assists.
Dakota State outhit the Saints 44-23 and .323-.105 in the match.
The Trojans return home on Friday night as they host Briar Cliff of the Great Plains Athletic Conference as part of Parents Night. The junior varsity match starts at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity match at 7:30 p.m. Parents will be recognized prior to the varsity match.
