Trojans compete in tough Roy Griak meet Saturday

WOMEN'S RESULTS - MEN'S RESULTS

Stephanie WarnkeMINNEAPOLIS – The Dakota State University women’s and men’s cross country teams both competed in a tough Roy Griak meet Saturday morning. The meet featured schools from NCAA Division II and top quality NAIA schools in the Midwest.

The Trojan women’s team took three runners to the race and did not field a complete team. The women’s race featured 270 runners. Stephanie Warnke placed 92nd with a time of 24 minutes and 35.3 seconds. Amber Wiebenga was 263rd in 30:26.2. Sara Schultz finished 264th in 30:27.4.

Andy CoyDSU men’s totaled 417 points for a 15th place finish in the 27-team affair. The Trojans were the third highest NAIA team to place in the meet, which featured 322 runners.

Andy Coy recorded the third fastest NAIA runner in the meet. He placed 19th with a time of 25:57.5. Matt Fideler was 27th in 26:09.2.

DSU’s Michael Hoffman finished 122nd with a time of 27:39.5. Nic Penning was 177th (28:21.2). Kace Groff placed 207th (28:49.0). Jacob Cassutt was 254th (29:40.8) and John Bintliff placed 256th (29:46.1).

Matt FidelerDakota State takes a week off before returning back to action on Oct. 8. The Trojans head to Briar Cliff Invitational in McCook Lake, S.D. Women’s race starts at 10 a.m. with the men’s race to follow at 10:45 a.m.
