DiPaola earns first A.I.I. Female Athlete of the Week honor

MADISON, S.D. - The Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) has selected Dakota State's Kristen DiPaola as its female athlete of the week honor, announced Monday morning.
DiPaola, a 5'10" junior outside hitter for the Trojans, helped her team to a 2-1 record on the week. She set a new school record for most kills in a match with 31 in a 3-2 comeback win over Mount Marty on Sept. 20. She added 18 kills in a 3-1 loss to NCAA Division II South Dakota Mines on Sept. 23. DiPaola recorded 17 kills in another 3-2 comeback victory over Valley City State on Sept. 24.
For the week, DiPaola finished with 66 kills (4.71 kills per set), 33 digs, five service aces and four blocks. She recorded an attack percentage of .356.
As of Monday from the DakStats-NAIA statistical website, DiPaola ranks 20th in the nation in total kills with 238.
Kristen is the daughter of Michael and Mary Beth DiPaola of Trinidad, Colo. She is a Business Management major at Dakota State University.
