Dakota State travels to Hastings SaturdayTHIS WEEK:  For the second straight week, Dakota State (0-6 overall record) plays in Nebraska.  The Trojans travel to Hastings, Neb. Saturday to face Hastings.  Kickoff from Lloyd Wilson Field is set for 1 p.m.

THE SERIES:  Sept. 1, 2007 was the first-ever meeting between Dakota State and Hastings.  It was played in Hastings, Neb.  Hastings went on to lead 10-9 at halftime and held on to defeat the Trojans 13-9.

LAST TIME OUT:  Dakota State traveled to Seward, Neb. for a first-ever meeting with Concordia (Neb.).  The Trojans and Bulldogs tied the game 14-14 at halftime, but the Bulldogs used a huge third quarter to defeat DSU 49-21.  Brandon Large was 31-for-46 with 279 yards and recorded three passing touchdowns.  Wes Dauz had ten receptions for 133 yards with a touchdown.  Hastings went to Mitchell, S.D. on Oct. 1 to face the nationally-ranked Dakota Wesleyan.  The Tigers jumped to a 21-0 halftime lead and held on the late Broncos' rally 21-14.  John Dostal completed 18 of 42 passes for 152 yards with a touchdown and recorded two interceptions  Keenan Ballage rushed 24 times for 60 yards.

FOOTBALL FORECAST:  Saturday's forecast calls for a high of 69 degrees and a partly cloudy skies with a 40 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms in Hastings, Neb.

FIRST IN THE NATION:  Robert Ortiz ranks first in the nation in three different categories.  He leads the nation in total kick-off returns with 854 yards, all-purpose yards with 1133 an all-purpose yards per game with an average of 188.8 yards.

DSU OFFENSE KEEPS RISING:  Wes Dauz ranks second in the nation in total receptions with 42.  Brandon Large is sixth in the nation in total passing with 1352 yards.  He ranks eighth in the nation in total offense yards with 1407.  Jeb Olsen ranks ninth in total rushing yards with 507.  As a team, Dakota State is ninth in the nation in total pass offense with 1352 yards.

DSU QUICK LEADERS:  Jeb Olsen leads the team in rushing with a total of 507 yards, an average of 84.5 yards per game.  Brandon Large averages 225.3 passing yards with a completion percentage of 59.1.  Wes Dauz leads the team with 42 receptions.  Keith Knudsen records 46 tackles for the Trojans.  Josh Licht records two quarterback sacks this season for DSU.

DSU FOOTBALL HISTORY LESSON:  Dakota State is in its 92nd year of competition.  The Trojans own an all-time record of 267-442-17.  DSU opened their first competition in 1908 with an overall record of 4-1-1.
