Chargers sweep DSU in three straight sets

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff held Dakota State to .069 hitting percentage as the Chargers swept the Trojans in three straight sets (25-18, 25-17 and 26-24) Tuesday night at Flanagan Center.
DSU suffered their third straight defeat and dropped their overall record to 9-14. Briar Cliff improved their record to 5-14.
Kristen DiPaola recorded her ninth straight double digits kills for the Trojans. She had a double-double of 11 kills and 11 digs. Stephanie Kruggel added seven kills and 12 digs. She had 2.5 blocks. Stacey Schuller produced 26 set assists.
Katie Green led DSU’s defense with 22 digs. Mandi Atkins added 10 digs and recorded two service aces.
For BC, Marissa Van Driel had 10 kills. Brooke Maguire added nine kills. Erin Frank had 28 assists and two service aces.
Liz Krog led Chargers’ defense with 27 digs. Amber Skoglund added 17 digs.
Briar Cliff outhit DSU 36-27. The Trojans committed 19 attack errors compared to the Chargers’ 14.
Dakota State returns back to DSU Fieldhouse on Friday night. The Trojans look to snap their three-match losing streak as they host their in-state rival University of Sioux Falls. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
