Trojans qualify for A.I.I. Independent Volleyball Tournament

A.I.I. VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT BRACKET

MADISON, S.D. - The Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) has announced its qualifiers for volleyball independent tournament next week in Phoenix, Ariz. Dakota State was one of the six teams qualified to the tournament.
DSU is currently 16-19 overall record, the most wins since 2005 when the Trojans advanced to the Dakota Athletic Conference's postseason championship match.
"I am very excited that we made into the tournament and get to keep playing volleyball," stated DSU's head volleyball coach Amy Veenhof. "It's so exciting that the tournament is in Phoenix. This is a great opportunity for us. We will spend the next week-and-a-half preparing for the tough competition we will be facing in Arizona."
The A.I.I. volleyball tournament format will start with a pool play on Friday, Nov. 12. The Trojans are seeded No. 5 and will play No. 1 La Sierra (Calif.) at 10 a.m. (Mountain Time) and No. 4 Mayville State at 6 p.m. (MT).
No. 2 seed Cal State San Marcos, No. 3 seed Jamestown and host-team No. 6 Arizona Christian are in the other pool.
The top two places in each pool will advance to the single-elimination tournament play on Saturday, Nov. 12. The third-place finishers in each pool are eliminated from the tournament.
The semifinals will take place at 3:30 p.m. (MT) and 6 p.m. (MT) on Nov. 12. The semifinals winners will advance to the A.I.I. Championship match at 8 p.m. (MT). Each semifinal winner teams will earn automatic bids to the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round held on campus sites on Nov. 19.
