Trojan men's runners third, women's sixth at A.I.I. Championship meet

MEN'S RESULTS - WOMEN'S RESULTS
SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The Dakota State University cross country teams competed in the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) cross country championship meet Saturday morning. Eight A.I.I. schools competed at the Mangrum Track and Soccer Field Complex on the campus of Cal State San Marcos.
Dakota State men's cross country team scored 89 points for a third-place finish. No. 8 Cal State San Marcos claimed the A.I.I. title with 24 points, followed by No. 22 British Columbia with 54 points.
Andy Coy (junior - Hill City, S.D.) placed third out of 65-runners with a time of 25 minutes and 19 seconds for DSU.
Cal State San Marcos claimed the top two individual finishers in the 8K meet (Danny Lyon - 24:46 and Armando Lara - 25:07). As a result, Coy was named to A.I.I. All-Conference team.
Matt Fideler (senior - Volga, S.D.) finished 11th. He ran a time of 25:57. Michael Hoffman (junior - Beresford, S.D.) was 19th in 26:23.
Other DSU place finishers are: Nic Penning (26th - 27:03); John Bintliff (38th - 28:11); Kace Groff (43rd - 28:31) and Jacob Cassutt (49th - 28:54).
The Trojan women's cross country team finished sixth with 175 points in the 5K course. A total of 58 runners competed in the race. No. 2 Cal State San Marcos won the team title with 22 points. No. 3 British Columbia was third with 43 points. The women's race featured 58 runners.
Stephanie Warnke (senior - Fairfax, S.D.) recorded a 24th-place finish for Dakota State. She finished with a time of 20 minutes and 12 seconds. Claire Beck (junior - Dallas, S.D.) was 40th in 22:08. Summer Bronson (junior - Wilmot, S.D.) placed 42nd in 22:22.
Other DSU place finishers are: Amber Wiebenga (46th - 22:48); Nicole Jurrens (48th - 23:01); Sara Schultz (52nd - 23:39) and Paula Kapperman (55th - 24:52).
Dakota State qualifies two runners - Coy and Fideler - for NAIA Cross Country National Championships to be held in Vancouver, Wash. on Nov. 19.
