Trojans face Vikings Tuesday, returns home Saturday vs. Mayville State

THIS WEEK: Dakota State (2-5 overall record) women's basketball team will play an exhibition game with NCAA Division II and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference member Augustana (2-1) on Tuesday night. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the Elmen Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Trojans return back to regular-season action on Saturday night against former Dakota Athletic Conference member Mayville State (7-2). The Comets and Trojans will meet for the second time this season. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. at DSU Fieldhouse in Madison, S.D.
LAST MEETING: Augustana (S.D.) defeated DSU in both teams' last meeting on Nov. 29, 2010 at the Elmen Center. The Vikings jumped to a 58-35 halftime lead and defeated DSU 96-62 in Trojans' exhibition game. Mayville State took the first meeting from Dakota State on Nov. 5, 2011 in Mayville, N.D. The Comets opened the game with seven straight points, but the Trojans answered back with eight consecutive points. Then, Mayville State used a 19-7 scoring tear to regain their lead to 27-14 halfway through the first-half. The Comets grabbed a 44-35 halftime lead. DSU was outscored 43-27 in the second-half as Mayville State recorded an 87-62 victory over the Trojans.
LAST TIME OUT: Dakota State played its only game of the week on Nov. 25. The Trojans suffered 45 turnovers in a 110-45 road defeat to then-No. 5 Briar Cliff (currently No. 2 in the first NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Poll Monday). Augustana won their second straight home game on Nov. 26. The Vikings defeated NAIA's Mount Marty 84-44 (and defeated Minot State 66-55 on Nov. 19). Mayville State dropped a pair of exhibition road games against NCAA Division II and NSIC members. The Comets dropped an 87-51 decision to Minnesota-Crookston on Nov. 18 and 100-51 contest to Bemidji State on Nov. 19.
TROJAN REBOUNDING: Dakota State had outrebounded the opponents in the first six games of the season. The Trojans ranks 23rd in the nation in offensive rebounds per game (15.6), 29th in total rebounds per game (43.1), 30th in total rebound margin per game (+4.6) and 42nd in defensive rebounds per game (27.6).
DSU QUICK LEADERS: Julie Munson leads the Trojans in scoring with an average of 11.6 points per game. She scored in double digits in the last five regular-season contests. Munson amasses 16 steals (2.3 average) this season. Courtney Hamblin averages 6.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 0.3 blocks per game for DSU.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. DSU will travel to Omaha, Neb. to take on College of St. Mary with a 7 p.m. game time start.
