Jackrabbits roll past Trojans in DSU men’s basketball exhibition game

BROOKINGS, S.D. - South Dakota State University, a member of the Summit League and NCAA Division I, took advantage on the boards as SDSU recorded a 93-60 win over the Trojans Monday night at Frost Arena.
Dakota State's overall record remains at 7-4, best start in more than 15 years. DSU received votes to the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball national poll for the second straight week. South Dakota State improved their record to 9-3. The Jackrabbits completed their three-game home stand with a 3-0 record, scoring more than 90 points in each game.
The Jackrabbits jumped to an 8-2 lead in the first two minutes and 30 seconds of the game.
Dakota State was able to clip their deficit to one-point four times in the first-half at 13-12 (13:30 on the clock), 20-19 (11:08), 22-21 (9:33) and 24-23 (9:14).
SDSU closed with a 24-7 run to extend their lead to 48-30 at halftime.
The Jackrabbits outrebounded the Trojans 25-10 in the first-half. SDSU earned 11 offensive rebounds for 14 second chance points.
South Dakota State maintained their lead throughout the game's final twenty minutes. The Jackrabbits outscored DSU 45-30 in the second-half.
Luke Lamb led the Trojans with 16 points. He was 7-for-13 from the field. Cameron Krump added 11 points and pulled down four rebounds. Jesse Bean scored 10 points. Jordan Snyder had four rebounds. Yusef Gray dished out four assists.
Six players scored in double digits for the Jackrabbits. Chad White had 22 points. Taevaunn Price added 15 points. Jordan Dykstra scored 12 points and earned seven rebounds. Griffan Callahan had 11 points. Zach Horstman scored 10 points off the bench. Brayden Carlson dished out eight assists and recorded five steals.
SDSU shot 53.1 percent from the field (34-for-64) compared to DSU 42.4 percent (25-for-59). The Jackrabbits went to the free-throw line 20 times and converted 16 free-throws (80 percent). DSU was 5-for-7 from the free-throw line.
South Dakota State outrebounded the Trojans 45-24. The Jackrabbits recorded 18 offensive rebounds compared to the Trojans' nine. SDSU outscored DSU 25-8 in second chance points.
Dakota State returns back to regular-season action on Saturday for the first time since Dec. 3. The Trojans take Bellevue, No. 9 in the latest NAIA Division II Men's Basketball national poll. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at DSU Fieldhouse. The Bruins won the first meeting from DSU 85-65 in the Hampton Inn Classic in Bellevue, Neb. on Nov. 26.
