State Farm Insurance to sponsor A.I.I. Women's & Men's Basketball Tournament in February

MADISON, S.D. - State Farm Insurance and Dakota State University Athletics are proud to announce that State Farm will be the tournament sponsor for the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Women's and Men's Basketball Tournament in February. A total of ten teams (five women's and five men's) will compete in the three-day event at the DSU Fieldhouse.
"State Farm is honored to sponsor this premier college basketball national qualifying event," said Randy Schaefer, a local State Farm agent from Madison, S.D. "As a leading sponsor of college sports, this event fits perfectly with State Farm's commitment to support student-athletes."
The A.I.I. represents more than 30 colleges and universities throughout the country.
DSU Athletic Director Gene Wockenfuss added, "Local agent and DSU Alumnus Randy Schaefer has been an enthusiastic supporter of Dakota State Athletics. We thank him for his willingness to partner with DSU in hosting this exciting event that will spotlight the Madison community."
The tournament begins on Friday, Feb. 24 with two first-round games with a women's game at 6 p.m., men's game to follow at 8 p.m. The semifinals take place on Saturday, Feb. 25 with two women's games at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The men's semifinals will start at approximately 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The A.I.I. tournament championship games will be held on Sunday, Feb. 26 with the women's game at 4 p.m. and men's game at 6 p.m. Midco Sports Network will be carrying a tape-delayed broadcast of the A.I.I. women's and men's championships.
The women's and men's semifinal winners will earn an automatic bid to the NAIA Division II Basketball National Championship Tournament on March 7-13. The women's national tournament will be held at the Tyson Center in Sioux City, Iowa. The men's national tournament will be held in Point Lookout, Mo. at the Keeter Gymnasium on the campus of College of the Ozarks.
