DSU men’s basketball drops third straight defeat, loses at USF

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Dakota State men's basketball team could not match the hot shooting of University of Sioux Falls Tuesday night at the Stewart Center. The Cougars shot 63.6 percent overall from the field to defeat DSU 83-57.
Dakota State dropped their third straight defeat. The Trojans are 10-9 overall record this season. University of Sioux Falls, member of NCAA Division II, raised their record to 8-7 and remained undefeated at home with a 7-0 record.
Jesse Bean hit a 3-pointer to give DSU a brief 3-0 lead to open the game.
USF went 8-for-11 from the field to gain a 19-8 lead with twelve minutes and 16 seconds left in the first-half. The Trojans were 3-for-11 from the field in during that span.
USF extended their lead to 44-25 at halftime.
The Cougars maintained control through the second-half, outscoring the Trojans 39-32.
Bean led the DSU with 15 points. He was 6-for-12 from the field, including 3-for-6 behind the 3-point arc.
Cameron Krump added 11 points. Keith Lee scored 10 points off the bench (2-for-2 from the field and 6-fof-6 from the free-throw line). Donald Stewart had seven points and pulled down eight rebounds. Jordan Snyder had three rebounds and three steals.
USF's James Rader shot a perfect 7-for-7 shooting from the field for 14 points. Keith Cutler added 12 points. A.J. Holland had 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
The Cougars shot 35-for-55 from the field compared to the Trojans' 18-for-51 (35.3 percent).
DSU was 18-for-24 from the free-throw line (75 percent), while USF was 7-for-8 (87.5 percent).
University of Sioux Falls outrebounded the Trojans 31-24.
Both teams committed 11 turnovers in the game.
Dakota State looks to snap their three-game losing streak as they return home Friday night to kick-off their five-game home stand. The Trojans host their former Dakota Athletic Conference foe Black Hills State. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the DSU Fieldhouse.
