Dr. Knowlton receives DSU Athletics lifetime pass

DSU Athletic Director presented Dr. Douglas Knowlton the DSU Athletics lifetime pass Tuesday night during men's halftime game - Photo by Erica Clements, DSU's Assistant PR and MarketingMADISON, S.D. - The Dakota State University Athletic Department presented Dr. Douglas Knowlton with a lifetime pass Tuesday night during halftime at the men's basketball game.  Knowlton will be leaving Dakota State University for his new job in Minnesota.

After serving eight years as DSU President, Knowlton will assume the role of Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs with the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System (MnSCU) on Feb. 13. 

Knowlton was a gracious supporter for DSU Athletics during his tenure at Dakota State.  He not only attended the majority of DSU games throughout the years, Dr. Douglas Knowlton plays with the DSU pep band during a media timeout Tuesday night - Photo by Erica Clements, DSU's Assistant PR and Marketingbut helped the athletic department grow in many other ways.

"Dr. Knowlton was instrumental in moving the DSU Athletic Department forward from increasing budgets to and leading our effort to pursue a new Athletic Conference," stated DSU Athletic Director Gene Wockenfuss.  "We were very fortunate to have a President that had such a passion for the student-athletes."

Knowlton also took the chance to play with the DSU pep band at Tuesday's game which was Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night.
