Three Trojan runners finish with strong showing at Husker Invitational
February 4, 2012
MEN'S ONE-MILE RUN RESULTS - WOMEN'S 600-METER RUN RESULTS
LINCOLN, Neb. – Dakota State sent three runners to the 37th Annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, hosted by the University of Nebraska (Lincoln), Saturday afternoon at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The meet featured schools from all levels from NAIA and NCAA.
Andy Coy and Matt Fideler were the only runners from the NAIA level to race in the men's one-mile run. The race featured an 18-runner field that included most NCAA Division I runners. DSU placed two runners in the top eight.
Coy recorded a third-place finish in the one-mile race and broke a new DSU school record. He improved his NAIA's national qualifying time to four minutes and 11.12 seconds (previously recorded a national qualifying time of 4:17.03 from the Iowa State Open on Jan. 21). The old DSU record mark in the one-mile run was set by former NAIA All-American Tyler Van Peursem in 2010 with a time of 4:13.92.
Fideler was eighth with a time of 4:14.24. He improved his previous national qualifying time of 4:18.79 set in the Iowa State Open on Jan. 21.
Stephanie Uher clocked a national qualifying time of 1:38.60 for an 11th place finish in the women's 600-meter run. She was the top NAIA place finisher in the 17-runner field. Uher's mark tied the DSU school record in the women's 600-meter run, which was set by Brittany Young in 2011.
