Fideler breaks DSU indoor track school record in men’s 3000-meter run
February 17, 2012
MADISON, S.D. – After capturing the men's 3000-meter run title Thursday at the Independent Open, Dakota State's Matt Fideler set a new DSU school record.
Fideler, two-time NAIA All-American in track, dominated the race and finish with a time of eight minutes and 43.53 seconds. Due to the altitude in Spearfish, S.D., his time had been calculated to 8:35.92. His time broke a new DSU school record, which was previously set by Ted Sees in 2002 with a time of 8:37.27.
Fideler's time on Thursday was his personal best and improved to the 14th best time in the nation. He will be running in the 3000-meter race at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championship meet in Geneva, Ohio on March 1-3.
Matt is the son of Kenneth and JoAnn Fideler of Volga, S.D. He is a senior Business Management/Accounting major at Dakota State University.
