Two DSU distance runners advance to NAIA National Indoor Track and Field Championship finals

Matthew FidelerGENEVA, Ohio – Two Dakota State University men's distance runners placed in the top four in the semifinals Friday afternoon.  Both Trojan runners advanced to the finals in the NAIA National Indoor Track and Field National Championships at SPIRE Institute Sports Complex.

Both Fidler and Coy made their third appearance in the national meet.

Fideler (senior – Volga, S.D.) placed third overall in the 24-runners field in the one-mile run.  He clocked a time of four minutes and 14.08 seconds to advance to the finals on Saturday.  Andy CoyHe will race at 12:35 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time)/11:35 a.m. (Central Standard Time).

Coy (junior – Hill City, S.D.) finished fourth in the 1000-meter run with a time of 2:31.57.  He will be competing in the finals on Saturday at 1:55 p.m. (ET)/12:55 p.m. (CT).

The top six athletes in each event will earn team points and achieve NAIA All-America status.
