Mackey receives A.I.I. Female Athlete of the Week honor

MADISON, S.D. - The Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) has selected Dakota State's Taylor Mackey (softball) as its Female Athlete of the Week, announced Monday morning.
Mackey, a 5-foot-11 sophomore from Burnsville, Minn., compiled a .600 batting average and a 1.067 slugging percentage for the Trojans. She went 9-for-15 at the plate with two home runs, a double, four runs and seven RBIs despite a 1-3 week for DSU.
According to NAIA-DakStats statistical website as of Monday morning, Mackey ranks 32nd in the nation in hits per game (1.6) She is 34th in runs batted in per game with a an average of 1.2 and 40th in stolen base per game (0.6).
Dakota State (9-9 overall record) returns home on Wednesday afternoon. The Trojans welcome their former Dakota Athletic Conference foe Mayville State at Thue Softball Complex. The A.I.I. conference doubleheader is scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m.
