Trojan Football announces third round of recruits

Josh AndersonMADISON, S.D. - Dakota State University head football coach Josh Anderson is proud to announce the signing of 15 additional recruits to the 2012 recruiting class. 

Below is the 15 recruits added to the Trojan Football recruiting class: 

Mat Atnip, LB – 6'2" – 240, Forney High School, son of Brandon and Sema Atnip of Forney, Texas, Coach:  Kevin Rush, Intended Major:  Business Management.  "Mat is a natural at the linebacker position and plays downhill very well.  He is a high-energy guy that will add a spark to our defense."

Nic Behrens, WR – 6'0" – 175, Flandreau High School, son of Jeff and Teresa Behrens of Flandreau, S.D., Coach:  Chad Stadem, Intended Major:  Business Management.  "Nick has tremendous quickness and agility.  He is capable of playing on either side of the ball and we are very lucky to have Nic joining our program."

Brayden Burbee, OL – 6'3" – 270, Lakewood High School, son of Jason and Teresa Burbee of Marysville, Wash., Coach:  Dan Teeter, Intended Major:  Physical Education.  "Brayden has excellent feet for a big body.  His control helps with his ability to drive block, as well as pass set."

Carver Ching, TE – 6'2" – 215, Castlewood High School, son of Jeff and Tamara Ching of Castlewood, S.D., Coach:  Doug Ruesink, Intended Major:  Biology for Information Systems.  "Carver is a do-everything kind of guy and we've got plans for him to help us in many different spots.  He's athletic enough to do some great things for us."

Chance Furman, OL – 6'3" – 280, Carrollwood Day School, son of Charles and Myra Furman of Lutz, Fla., Coach:  Jon Gruden, Intended Major:  General Studies.  "Chance is a very aggressive Offensive Lineman that can play either Guard or Center for us.  He is looking to come and make an immediate impact and I look forward to seeing what he can do for us."

Weston Hoglund, RB – 5'10" – 185, Langford Area High School, son of Morne Hoglund and Signe Schultz of Langford, S.D., Coach:  Paul Rausch, Intended Major:  Health Information Administration.  "Weston comes from a dominate athletic program.  He and the Lions had a good run in football and an exciting State Class 'B' Basketball tournament as well.  Weston has a lot of abilities and I'm glad he is bringing them to DSU."

Corbyn Johnson, OL – 6'3" – 295, Forney High School, son of Kimberly Goldberg of Forney, Texas, Coach:  Kevin Rush, Intended Major:  Business Management.  ""Corbyn has excellent size and abilities that I'm excited to see him adapt to our offense when he arrives in the fall."

Tyler Murphy, DL – 6'4" – 230, Deubrook Area High School, son of Todd and Brietta Murphy of White, S.D., Coach:  Adolph Shepardson, Intended Major:  General Studies.  "Tyler was a major part of the Dolphins success that last three years and we know he'll continue to work hard at DSU to make an impact."

Maunaku Palama-Danielson, DL – 6'3" – 300, Waiakea High School, son of McQueen and Mokihana Palama-Danielson, Coach:  Patrick Chong, Intended Major:  Computer Science.  "For as big and tall as Maunaku is, he really moves well on his feet.  He's got quick hands and a nose for the ball.  He'll be a big help on our defensive Line."

Marvin Pitts, OL – 6'4" – 220, Prescott High School, son of Kevin and Nancy Pitts of Prescott, Ariz., Coach:  Lou Benneitone, Intended Major:  Exercise Science.  "Marvin is another lineman that is very mobile with excellent body control.  He is an aggressive blocker and gets to the second level a lot."

Thomas Raught, OL – 6'3" – 265, Lakewood High School, son of Randy Raught, Coach:  Dan Teeter, Intended Major:  Business Management.  "Thomas is very solid on both sides of the ball.  We'll see how things turn out with Thomas but we know he would do a great job for us on either offensive or defensive line."

Austin Ross, DB – 5'11" – 170, Colman-Egan High School, son of Jeff Ross of Chester, S.D., Coach:  Jeff Hegge, Intended Major:  Business Management.  "Colman had an exciting football season this year and Austin is a big reason for that success.  Austin is another multi-sport athlete that is just a tremendous competitor."

Matt Stephan, DL – 6'0" – 240, Milbank High School, son of Darren and Kathy Stephan of Milbank, S.D., Coach:  Jeremy Tostenson, Intended Major:  Accounting.  "Matt comes from a great area high school football program and knows that amount of time and effort it takes to be successful on the field and in the classroom."

Chris Tabor, OL – 6'0" – 300, Broken Arrow High School, son of Brian and Karla Tabor of Broken Arrow, Okla., Coach:  Steve Spavital, Intended Major:  Computer Game Design.  "Chris comes from the largest high school in Oklahoma and was part of the State Championship game this year.  He is light on his feet for being an Offensive Lineman and it's easy to see he's been coached very well."

Michael Williams, WR – 5'8" – 165, First Coast Academy (transfer from Bacone College), son of Sandra Edmunds & David Williams of Jacksonville, Fla., Coach:  Arthur Mallory, Intended Major:  Digital Arts & Design.  "Michael is all about speed, speed and more speed.  He can do many things for us on offense and we're excited about when he gets the ball in his hands."
