Trojans had strong performances at Red Raiders outdoor track Open

RED RAIDERS OPEN RESULTS

Andy CoyORANGE CITY, Iowa – The Dakota State University's outdoor track and field teams competed in the two-day Red Raiders Open, hosted by Northwestern (Iowa).  The Trojans recorded nine top-8 place finishers at the De Valois Stadium.

Dakota State dominated the men's 1500-meter run with top-2 place finishers.  Andy Coy captured the title by recording a national qualifying time of three minutes and 56.55 seconds.  Matt Fideler was the runner-up with a time of 3:57.53.

In the women's 800-meter run, Stephanie Uher finished third with a time of 2:20.82.Matthew Fideler

Ryan Gimbel placed fourth in the men's weight throw with a measurement of 137 feet and nine inches.  He threw a measurement of 43 feet and 9.75 inches for a sixth-place finish in the shot put.

Summer Bronson produced a time of 16.14 seconds for a fourth-place finish in the women's 100-meter hurdles prelims.  She finished fifth with a time of 15.76 seconds.  Bronson was seventh in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:13.33.

Stephanie UherIn 4 x 400-meter relay, the Trojan men's team finished fourth in 3:25.84.  The women's was fifth with a time of 4:13.73.  

Andrew Gross was sixth in the men's pole vault.  He cleared the height measurement of 12 feet and 3.5 inches.

Shayna Dwyer recorded a discus throw of 102 feet and eight inches for an eighth-place finish.

Summer BronsonOther place finishers at the Red Raiders Open are:  Gimbel (15th in men's discus throw – 126' 4"); Dwyer (15th in women's shot put– 32' 11.25" and 13th in women's hammer throw – 98' 9"); Claire Beck (10th in women's 400-meter dash – 1:03.74); Nicole Jurrens (14th in women's 400-meter dash – 1:10.37) Stephanie Warnke (13th in women's 800-meter run – 2:26.96); Sara Schultz (34th in women's 1500-meter run – 6:01.47); Amber Wiebenga (36th in women's 1500-meter run – 6:14.03); Stacey Berg (9th in men's 100-meter dash  – 11.32 seconds and 12th in men's long jump – 20' 3.75 inches); Chance Clason (24th in men's 100-meter dash – 12.10 seconds and 20th in 200-meter dash – 24.77 seconds); Andy Quenzer (17th in men's 800-meter run – 2:01.77); John Bintliff (20th in men's 800-meter run - 2:03.91); Gabe Samuelson (32nd in men's 800-meter run – 2:07.89); Joshua Scott (39th in men's 800-meter run – 2:15.31);Trevor Rossknecht (9th in discus throw – 136' 6" and 12th in men's hammer throw – 104' 8") and Trevor Van Tilburg (19th in discus throw – 121' 1").

Dakota State returns back to action next weekend.  The Trojans will take partial team to the Drake Relays on Friday (April 27) and Saturday (April 28).  DSU hosts its own invitational – the annual Trojan Invitational – on Friday at Trojan Field.  First event is slated to start at 12 noon.
