Trojans break records at Drake Relays Saturday

DES MOINES, Iowa – Dakota State sent four runners in the annual premier Drake Relays meet on Saturday morning at Drake Stadium.  The Trojans produced strong performances in two events, competing with numerous schools from the NAIA and NCAA schools.

DSU men's medley relay – Andy Coy, Stacey Berg, Andy Quenzer and Matt Fideler – Andy Coyproduced a time of 10 minutes and 7.23 seconds for a seventh-place finish.  As a result, the time was the second fastest time in the DSU record book.

Fideler was the top NAIA place finisher in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase event.  The top seven place finishers in the event were from NCAA Division I schools (Eastern Illinois, Air Force, DePaul, Illinois, Indiana State, University of South Dakota and Kansas State).  He improved his personal career best, DSU record book and national qualifying time of 9:11.41 for an eighth place finish.

Stacey BergDakota State returns back to action next weekend at the University of Sioux Falls Invitational.  The Trojans will compete in the two-day event, which kicks off on Friday, May 4 at Lillibridge Track in southeast Sioux Falls area.
