Drealan named DSU cross country and track/field assistant coach
May 2, 2012
MADISON, S.D. - Dakota State University's interim Athletic Director Dr. Judy Dittman is pleased to announce the hiring of Anthony Drealan as the full-time assistant coach for cross country and track & field.
Drealan is no stranger to Dakota State athletics as he served as the interim assistant cross country, track & field coach during the 2011-12 season. During his year with the Trojans, DSU had two national qualifiers in cross country as well as a 12th place finish at the 2012 NAIA Men's National Indoor Track & Field Championship. At this meet, Andy Coy was the individual champion in the 1000-meter run, which is also the fastest time recorded by any South Dakota collegiate athlete. Matt Fideler was runner-up in the mile run, setting a new DSU record.
As an athlete at Dakota State, Drealan was himself a two-time NAIA All-American. His first All-American honor occurred in cross country in 2009 and then again in indoor track in the winter of 2010. While at DSU, he received numerous athletic and academic awards including 2011 Outstanding Male Athlete and DSU's Champion of Character award. Academically, he was named to the Dakota Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference list. He graduated from DSU in the spring of 2011.
Drealan is currently working on his Master's Degree in Human Performance and Physical Education with an emphasis in coaching from Adams State University. He and his wife Samantha (former DSU athletic standout) reside in Madison.
