Trojans had strong performances in second day of USF Invitational

USF INVITATIONAL FINAL RESULTS

Andy CoySIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Dakota State University outdoor track and field teams overcame the wet weather that rolled through eastern South Dakota Saturday.  The Trojans had strong performances in the second day of the University of Sioux Falls Invitational at Lillibridge Track Stadium.

Andy Coy won the men's 800-meter run for the Trojans.  He clocked with a time of one minute and 53.58 seconds.  Andy Quenzer was 15th in 1:59.16.  John Bintliff finished 19th with a time of 2:01.49 and Gabe Samuelson placed 23rd in 2:03.04.

Stephanie UherMatt Fideler recorded a time of 15:04.39 for a second place finish in the men's 5000-meter run.  His time was the third fastest time in the DSU record book.   Nic Penning was sixth in 15:53.16.

In the women's 800-meter run, Stephanie Uher produced a time of 2:18.35 for a fifth-place finish.  She improved her personal best time, which is the third fastest time in DSU record book.  Stephanie Warnke was 12th in 2:24.57.  Amber Wiebenga finished 18th in 2:56.43 and Sara Schultz placed 19th with a time of 3:04.58.

Summer Bronson recorded a sixth-place finish in the women's 100-meter hurdles finals.  She finished with a time of 16.11 seconds.  Chad Pelkofer finished seventh in the men's 110-meter hurdles in 16.48 seconds.Matt Fideler

Stacey Berg was fourth in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 22.33 seconds.  Chance Clason was 14th in 24.59 seconds.  Claire Beck placed 14th in the women's 200-meter dash in 27.72 seconds.

In the men's pole vault, Andrew Gross recorded a seventh place finish with a height measurement of 14 feet and 1.25 inches.

Stacey BergRyan Gimbel was sixth in the shot put.  He threw a measurement of 39 feet and 8.75 inches.

Trevor Rossknecht produced the second best hammer throw in DSU school record book with a measurement of 131 feet and 11 inches for a tenth place finish.  He was seventh in the discus throw (135 feet and 1 inch).

Shayna Dwyer was 13th in both women's shot put (32 feet and 7.5 inches) and discus throw (107 feet and 8 inches).

Summer BronsonTrevor Van Tilburg was 10th in the men's discus throw (124 feet and 9 inches).  He was 13th in the hammer throw (102 feet and 6 inches).

In relay events, the DSU women's 4 x 400 meter relay (Beck, Bronson, Warnke and Uher) placed second with a time of 4:14.69.  The Trojan men's 4 x 100 meter relay team (Clason, Pelkofer, Gross and Samuelson) was second in 46.23 seconds.  Berg, Fideler, Quenzer and Coy ran the men's 4 x 400 meter relay and placed second with a time of 3:25.84.  (The Trojan relay B team – Gross, Bintliff, Pelkofer and Samuelson was fifth in 3:37.73).

Trevor RossknechtDakota State competes in the final regular-season meet on Friday.  The Trojans travel to Seward, Neb. to participate in the Concordia Twilight Invitational.  This is the last opportunity to qualify for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Marion, Ind.
