DSU Outdoor Track & Field concludes regular-season at Concordia TwilightTHIS WEEK:  The Dakota State University outdoor track and field teams conclude their 2012 regular-season schedule Friday at the Concordia Twilight.  The meet will be held at the Bulldog Stadium in Seward, Neb.

CONCORDIA TWILIGHT:  The Concordia Twilight is hosted by Concordia (Neb.), a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference.  DSU will compete in their final meet of the season, which is the last opportunity to qualify for the NAIA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships.  The first event is slated to start at 2 p.m. with the hammer throw, discus throw and long jump.  Running events are scheduled to start at 4 p.m. with the sprint hurdles (100-meter women's and 110-meter men's).

DSU Outdoor Track & Field concludes regular-season at Concordia TwilightTROJANS HAD STRONG PERFORMANCE AT USF RELAYS:  Andy Coy recorded a first-place finish in the men's 800-meter run in the University of Sioux Falls Relays on May 5 in Sioux Falls, S.D.  He crossed the finish line with a time of one minute and 53.58 seconds.  Matt Fideler was second in the men's 5000-meter run with a time of 15:04.39, which was the third fastest time in the DSU record book.  Nic Penning was sixth in 15:53.16.  In the women's 800-meter run, Stephanie Uher produced a time of 2:18.35 for a fifth-place finish.  Her time was the third fastest time in DSU record book.  Summer Bronson was sixth in the women's 100-meter hurdles finals with a time of 16.11 seconds.  She was fourth in the women's 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.11.  Stacey Berg recorded a fourth-place finish in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 22.33 seconds.  Trevor Rossknecht produced the second best hammer throw in DSU school record book with a measurement of 131 feet and 11 inches for a tenth-place finish.

NATIONAL QUALIFIERS: DSU currently have three distance runners qualified for NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship. Nic Penning recorded a national qualifying time in the Midland Half-Marathon Meet on March 10 in Fremont, Neb. The 13.1 mile meet, hosted by Midland University, gave individuals an opportunity to compete for a bid in marathon for NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in late May. Penning punched his ticket for nationals as he recorded a time of one hour, 13 minutes and 56 seconds. Andy Coy improved his national qualifying time of 1:52.27 in the men's 800-meter run and a second-place finish in the Sioux City Relays on April 13. He also qualified for the men's 1500-meter run on April 21 with a time of 3:56.55. Matt Fideler improved his national qualifying time in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase at Drake Relay on April 28. He produced a time of 9:11.41 for an eighth-place finish at the meet. The NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship meet will be held in Marion, Ind. on May 24-26.
