DSU Volleyball kicks off 2012 season at home

MADISON, S.D. - Dakota State University volleyball announced its 2012 schedule. The Trojans kick off their 32-match schedule on Aug. 24 at home (DSU Fieldhouse) versus Briar Cliff (Iowa) from the Great Plains Athletic Conference. DSU will play a total of 13 matches at home. Amy Veenhof will begin her fourth season as the Trojans' head volleyball coach this fall, assisted by Megan Kusler.
Dakota State heads on the road on Aug. 28 at Northwestern (Iowa) in Orange City, Iowa. The Trojans return home on Aug. 29 for a match-up with Morningside (Iowa).
DSU will host a triangular on Sept. 1 at DSU Fieldhouse with Waldorf (Iowa) and Peru State (Neb.).
On Sept. 7 and 8, the Trojans compete in the 3rd Annual Corn Palace Classic - hosted by Dakota Wesleyan - in Mitchell, S.D. DSU will face South Dakota Mines, Clarke (Iowa), Saint Mary (Neb.) and host-team DWU in the two-day event.
Dakota State will be hosting the six-team Independent Volleyball Jamboree on the weekend of Sept. 21-22. Ashford (Iowa), Jamestown (N.D.), Mayville State (N.D.), South Dakota Mines and Valley City State (N.D.) along with DSU will each play four matches in the jamboree.
The Trojans host their in-state rival Dakota Wesleyan on Sept. 26 during DSU's homecoming week.
On Sept. 29, DSU travels to Morris, Minn. to play in a triangular with Northland (Wis.) and Minnesota-Morris.
Dakota State heads to Denver, Colo. to compete in the Johnson & Wales (Colo.) Tournament on Oct. 5 and 6. The Trojans face Sterling (Kan.), host-team Johnson & Wales, and Haskell Indian Nation (Kan.).
DSU concludes their home schedule with two matches. The Trojans host Jamestown on Oct. 13 and Presentation (S.D.) on Oct. 16.
Dakota State finishes their regular-season with seven straight matches on the road. The Trojans head to Midland (Neb.) on Oct. 19, Saint Mary (Neb.) on Oct. 20 and University of Sioux Falls on Oct. 23. DSU plays in the triangular with Jamestown and Valley City State on Oct. 26 in Jamestown, N.D. Mayville State will host Dakota State in the regular-season finale on Oct. 27 in Mayville, N.D.
The Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Volleyball Conference Postseason Tournament will be held on the campus of Mayville State in Mayville, N.D. on Nov. 9-10. The winner and runner-up of the postseason tournament each receive an automatic bid to play in the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round held at the campus sites announced by the NAIA.
The winner of the NAIA Volleyball National Tournament Opening Round advances to the NAIA Volleyball National Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa. The national tournament will be held at the Tyson Center on Nov. 27 to Dec. 1.
