Dakota State runners compete in two different meets

TROJAN DAY 5K RUN RESULTS - ROY GRIAK INVITATIONAL RESULTS
MADISON, S.D./ST. PAUL, Minn. – Dakota State placed six women's runners in the top 15 in the annual Trojan Day 5K Run Saturday morning as part of DSU's homecoming festivities. The Trojan men's cross country team competed in the 27th Annual Roy Griak Invitational at the Les Bolstad Golf Course, which featured numerous NCAA Division II and top quality NAIA schools in the race.
DSU placed three women's runners in the top 10 in the Trojan 5K race. The race featured 84 combined women's and men's runners. Summer Bronson placed seventh with a time of 22:03.09, followed by Kayla Sveen eighth in 22:05.05 and Stephanie Uher ninth with a time of 22:08.03.
Brooke Fritz finished 11th in 22:32.08. Anastasia Asmiakopoulos was 12th with a time of 22:54.01. Amber Wiebenga placed 13th in 22:56.02.
A total of 401 runners ran in the Roy Griak Men's Maroon II (Division II) competition Saturday late morning. Andy Coy placed 40th for the Trojans with a time of 26 minutes and 33 seconds.
Michael Hoffman, ran as an unattached for DSU, finished 140th in 27:41.8.
Nic Penning was 160th with a time of 27:55.1. Taylor Hauge placed 308th in 29:49.1. Andy Quenzer finished 358th in 31:07.1.
DSU did field a complete team for their team score in the meet. Colorado Springs claimed the team title in the Men's Maroon II (Division II) with 93 points.
Dakota State returns back to action next Saturday (Oct. 6). The Trojans head to McCook Lake, S.D. to run in the Briar Cliff Invitational. The women's race is expected to start at 10 a.m. with the men's race to follow at approximately 10:45 a.m.
