DSU men’s basketball prepares for 2012-13 season

2012-13 DSU MEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE

DSU Men's Basketball Head Coach Gary Garner giving instructions to his players in the latest Trojans' practice.MADISON, S.D. – The Dakota State men's basketball team had been practicing in the last few weeks to prepare for their 2012-13 campaign.

Head coach Gary Garner, now in his fourth season at Dakota State, has 12 players on this year's roster including three returning starters from last year team. 

The Trojans finished their historical 2011-12 season with an overall record of 18-13.  DSU captured their first-ever Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Division II Men's Basketball conference tournament champions and qualified for the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Tournament for the first time since 1992.  Keith Lee (left) works on defense as Kevin Danielsen (right) looks for the next offensive move.In addition, the Trojans recorded their fourth consecutive double digits wins for the first time in more than 20 years.

Dakota State kicks off their 2012-13 season with four straight games at home.  The Trojans host Oglala Lakota (S.D.) in DSU's basketball season opener on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m.  DSU will play a 28 regular-season game schedule in 2012-13 season, along with four exhibition games including a match-up with NCAA Division I national tournament qualifier South Dakota State on Dec. 6 in Brookings, S.D.
