DSU drops pair of volleyball matches in Jamestown (N.D.) triangular

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Dakota State's volleyball team continued their action on the road Friday night as they played a pair of matches in the Jamestown (N.D.) triangular at the Hansen Center. The Trojans dropped a pair of 3-0 defeats to Valley City State (N.D.) and host-team Jamestown.
Dakota State dipped their overall record to 12-19 and 2-5 in the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) conference record. Valley City State improved to 14-19 overall record and 2-4 in the A.I.I., while Jamestown improved their record to 23-6 and 8-1 in the A.I.I.

Valley City State won the first set by the score of 25-17. The Trojans dropped the next two sets decided by two points (28-26 and 27-25). VCSU swept the season series with DSU.
Caitlin Pick led DSU's offense attack with 14 kills. Kristen DiPaola added 10 kills. Taylor Masco had five kills. Stacey Schuller produced 29 assists.
Mandi Atkins had 20 digs for the Trojans. Mosco had three service aces and three block assists.
Dakota State had 33 kills in the match and a killing percentage of .189. The Trojans recorded four blocks.
No statistics were reported for Valley City State.

Jamestown quickly won the first sets by the scores of 25-11 and 25-12. The third set was decided by two points as the Jimmies sealed the match with a 26-24 victory.
Pick had eight kills for the Trojans. DiPaola added seven kills. Schuller had 22 assists.
Atkins recorded 10 digs for DSU's defense. Allison Thielsen added seven digs and had two service aces.
Sarah Becker and Kaitlyn Rogalla each had 10 kills for JC. Katie Zent added nine kills. Kelsey Deragisch recorded 22 assists, while Kaia Buck added 16 assists.
Katie Lee had 10 digs and four service aces for the Jimmies. Deragisch added 11 digs. Becker had four block assists.
Jamestown outhit the Trojans 47-25 in kills. The Jimmies recorded a .385 hitting efficiency compared to DSU's .168.
JC had nine service aces while DSU had two service aces in the match.
Dakota State looks to end their losing skid Saturday evening as they play in the final regular-season match at Mayville State (N.D.). First serve is set for 5 p.m. at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse.
