Niesen earns CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 College Division Football team honor

John NiesenMADISON, S.D. – More honors are piling up for DSU's Football senior running back John Niesen.  On Nov. 8, he was selected to the CoSIDA to its Academic All-District 6 College Division football team.

To be nominated to the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America)  Academic All-District ballot, the student-athlete needs to have at least 3.2 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale and must be at least sophomore in eligibility.  A group of sports information directors from all over the United State vote for the nominees on the ballot.

Niesen earns CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 College Division Football team honorJohn is the son of Keith and Patty Niesen of Amherst, S.D.  He is majoring in Elementary Education and Special Education at Dakota State University.  Niesen finished the 2012 season with 579 rushing yards in 172 attempts (3.4 yards per rush) and recorded six rushing touchdowns for the Trojans.

Last September, Niesen was one of the nine NAIA scholar-athletes to be named to the semifinalists for the National Football Foundation (NFF) William V. Campbell Trophy.
