DiPaola selected to A.I.I. Volleyball All-Conference First-team honor
November 11, 2012
2012 A.I.I. VOLLEYBALL ALL-CONFERENCE SELECTIONS
MAYVILLE, N.D. – The Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) had announced its volleyball All-Conference honors on Nov. 8 in the banquet at the campus of Mayville State (N.D.). Senior outside hitter Kristen DiPaola of Dakota State (S.D.) was selected to the A.I.I. All-Conference first-team.
DiPaola had a stellar volleyball career at Dakota State after transferring from Trinidad State Junior College two years ago. She smashed her 1000th career kill at DSU on Oct. 16 at DSU Fieldhouse in Trojans' 3-1 win over Presentation (S.D.). DiPaola became the second DSU volleyball athlete to achieve the milestone within a span of two years (Stephanie Kruggel hit her 1000th career kill in 2011).
According to the DakState statistical website as of Sunday, DiPaola ranks second in the nation in kills per set (5.1) and third in total kills with 591. She leads both categories in the A.I.I.
DiPaola had set numerous records in the Trojan Volleyball record book. She currently holds the most kills in a single match with 31 at Mount Marty (S.D.) on Sept. 20, 2011. DiPaola ranks second in the DSU record book for most kills in a single season (591).
In addition, DiPaola recorded 29 service aces (0.25 aces per set), 330 digs (2.8 digs per set) and 53 total blocks (0.53 blocks per set) this season for DSU.
Kristen is the daughter of Michael and Mary Beth DiPaola of Trinidad, Colo. She is majoring in Business Management at Dakota State University.
