2012-13 NAIA DIVISION II MEN'S BASKETBALL COACHES' TOP 25 POLL - WEEK NO. 2
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Dakota State men's basketball received votes recognition to the national poll for the second straight week. The second regular-season installment of the 2012-13 NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' 'Top 25' poll was announced Tuesday by the national office.
DSU is currently 7-1 overall record, which is the best start in a span of 46 years (the 1966-67 Trojan men's basketball team started the season with a 9-1 record). The Trojans are currently on a six-game regular-season winning streak (third longest winning streak in DSU men's basketball team history – team record is eight consecutive wins during the 1990-91 season).
Dakota State, a member of the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.), received six votes to the national poll. Two other A.I.I. schools received votes to the national poll – Valley City State (N.D.) at No. 17 with 136 votes and Rochester (Mich.) received votes to the national poll with 43 votes.
Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) boasts the No. 1 ranking with a 10-0 overall record with 11 first-place votes and 312 votes.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and independents. The third-regular season Coaches' Top 25 Poll will be announced on Dec. 11.
