Boomsma earns A.I.I. Male Athlete of the Week
December 10, 2012
MADISON, S.D. – Seth Boomsma of Dakota State University indoor track team was named to the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Male Athlete of the Week, announced Monday morning.
Boomsma barely missed setting a DSU school record in the 60-meter dash as he qualified for the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships at the Minnesota State-Mankato Preseason Open on Dec. 8. After a prelim time of 6.86 seconds, Boomsma won the 60-meter event at 6.82 seconds, just .01 seconds off of tying the DSU school time.
Boomsma's 6.82 seconds is currently the fastest time in the NAIA's 60-meter dash event. The NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships will be held in Geneva, Ohio on Feb. 28 through March 2.
Seth is the son of Terry and Stacey Boomsma of Crooks, S.D. He is a sophomore Exercise Science major at Dakota State University.
Dakota State indoor track and field teams return back to action on Jan. 12, 2013 as they compete in the Dordt Invitational. The meet will take place in Sioux Center, Iowa.
