2012-13 NAIA DIVISION II MEN'S BASKETBALL COACHES' TOP 25 POLL - No. 3
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) remains at No. 1 ranking in the third regular-season installment of the 2012-13 NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, announced Tuesday by the national office. Dakota State received votes recognition to the national poll for the third straight week.
Dakota State is currently 7-2 overall record this season – both losses to Northwestern (Iowa) of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). The Trojans' six-game winning streak was snapped by current-No. 10 Red Raiders on Dec. 8 in Orange City, Iowa. DSU's 7-1 start is the best start since 1966-67 season when the Trojans began the season with a 9-1 record.
Dakota State, a member of the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.), received four votes to the national poll. Two A.I.I. teams are ranked in the Top 25 – No. 15 Valley City State (N.D.) and No. 22 Rochester (Mich.)
The Trojans head to Mayville State (N.D.) on Saturday night for an A.I.I. conference game. Tip-off from the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse is set for 7:30 p.m. in Mayville, N.D.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and independents. The fourth-regular season Coaches' Top 25 Poll will be announced on Jan. 8, 2013.
