Lady T's face former DAC-10 foe Mary (N.D.) in final exhibition game

THIS WEEK: The Dakota State Lady T's basketball team (4-7 overall record) will play their fourth and final exhibition game of the season on Sunday afternoon. The Lady T's visit their former Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) foe Mary (N.D.) (7-3, 3-2 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference record). Tip-off from the McDowell Activity Center is set for 4 p.m. in Bismarck, N.D.
LAST MEETING: The last time both teams met was during the 2005-06 season when Mary made their transitional move to NCAA Division II. Both teams split their two meetings during that season with each team winning on their home floor. The Lady T's defeated the Marauders on Jan. 14, 2006 at DSU Fieldhouse by the score of 66-62. DSU outrebounded Mary 43-23 in the game. The Marauders beat DSU in the last meeting on Feb. 10, 2006 in Bismarck, N.D. Mary won by the score of 61-52. The last time Lady T's defeated Mary in Bismarck was on Jan. 20, 2001 by the score of 100-72.
DSU & MARY IN FORMER DAC-10 ERA: Mary owns a 9-4 all-time record with Dakota State during their time in the Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC), including the conference postseason tournament. The Marauders left the original DAC-10 conference after the 2004-05 season, where they advanced to the NAIA's 'Sweet Sixteen'. The Lady T's swept Mary in the first year as conference members in 2000-01 season, as the Lady T's qualified to the NAIA 'Sweet Sixteen' that year. Both DSU and Mary went to the NAIA National Tournament in 2002-03 season. Mary is currently a member of the NCAA Division II and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
BLOCKS RANKS: Dakota State continues to rank second in the nation in blocks per game with an average of 5.4. The Lady T's rank seventh in total blocks with 59. Alyson Drooger leads the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) conference in blocks with 41. She ranks second in the nation in blocks per game (3.7) and third in total blocks 41, which is 10th most blocks in a single season in Lady T's record book. Drooger had set a DSU school record for most blocks in a single game with 11 versus Mount Marty (S.D.) on Dec. 5 at DSU Fieldhouse.
LADY T'S OFFENSE RANKS IN NATION: According to the NAIA-DakStats statistical website as of Wednesday, the Lady T's rank sixth in the nation in field goal percentage (46.4 percent). DSU is seventh in free-throw percentage (75 percent). The Lady T's rank 13th in assists per game (17.9), 33rd in 3-point field goal percentage (32 percent), 34th in scoring offense (71.5 points per game) and total assists (197) and 36th in 3-point field goals made per game (5.8).
LAST TIME OUT: Nationally-ranked Briar Cliff (Iowa) shot 52.9 percent from the field on Dec. 17 to defeat Dakota State 91-74 at DSU Fieldhouse. The Lady T's opened the game with a 11-6 lead, but the Chargers went on a 11-0 spurt to earn a 17-11 lead with less than 13 minutes before halftime. DSU was able to trim their deficit to 52-51 with 16:17 remaining. From there, BC maintained control with a 14-0 scoring run for a 66-51 lead with 13:03 left. The Lady T's dropped an 85-42 exhibition game to NCAA Division II and NSIC foe Minnesota State-Mankato on Dec. 19 in Mankato, Minn.
DRAINING 3s: Kylie Westover drained 21 3-pointers through 11 regular-season contests this season. She currently records 132 3-point field goals made, which is fifth most career 3-pointers in DSU Lady T's record book.
249 WINS AND COUNTING: Jeff Dittman recorded his 249th coaching career victory as DSU Lady T's basketball head coach on Dec. 14 in Morris, Minn. He is in his 16th year as the Lady T's basketball coach and 20th overall as head coach (4 years at Hastings). Dittman is currently 249-208 overall record as DSU Lady T's basketball head coach, the most wins by a women's basketball head coach at DSU.
LADY T'S QUICK LEADERS: Kylie Westover leads Lady T's in scoring with 13.3 points per game. She shoots 45 percent from the field, which ranks her 50th in the nation in field goal percentage. Alyson Drooger averages 10 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. She leads the team in blocks with an average of 3.7 blocks per game. Yui Onodera accumulates 45 assists this season, averaging 4.1 assists per game. She ranks 34th in the nation in assists per game (4.1). Julie Munson records 15 steals (1.5 steals per game).

Dakota State returns home to begin their 2013 portion of the schedule with a two-game home stand against a pair of Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) foes. The Lady T's host Midland (Neb.) on Saturday, Jan. 5 with a tip-off starting at 4 p.m. On Wednesday, Jan. 9, Dakota State will welcome Dordt (Iowa) at 5:30 p.m. All games will be at the DSU Fieldhouse.
