WOMEN'S RESULTS - MEN'S RESULTS

Seth BoomsmaSIOUX CENTER, Iowa – Fourteen different Dakota State University individuals placed in the top 10 Saturday at the Dordt (Iowa) Indoor Track and Field Invitational.  Ten teams competed at the Recreation Center on the campus of Dordt College.

Seth Boomsma captured the men's 55-meter dash with an automatic qualifying time of 6.36 seconds.  He had qualified for the NAIA Nationals in the 60-meter dash event.  D'Artist Williams produced a time of 6.64 seconds for a sixth-place finish.  Other DSU men's runners that placed in the 55-meter dash are:  Stacey Berg – 12th in 6.74 seconds, Zach Ely – 31st in 7.00 seconds and Kris Dearie – 42nd in 7.46 seconds.

Ryan GimbelIn men's weight throw, Ryan Gimbel improved his career and DSU school record with a measurement of 49 feet and 8.5 inches.  As a result, he placed second and posted the best collegiate athlete (defeated all college athlete in the event – unattached Jacob Chambers won the event with a measurement of 57 feet and 3.5 inches).  Trevor Van Tilburg was eighth (43 inches and 1.5 inches) and Trevor Rossknecht placed ninth (42 feet and 8.75 inches).

Gimbel was ninth in the men's shot put with a measurement of 41 inches and eight inches.   On the women's side, Shayna Dwyer placed 19th (33 feet and 2.5 inches).  Ashley Currey finished 20th with a measurement of 32 feet and 7.75 inches.

Stephanie UherDwyer was 12th in the women's weight throw (37 feet and 11.5 inches).

Four DSU women's runners placed in top 10 in the 800-meter run.  Stephanie Uher clocked a time of two minutes and 25.98 seconds to earn a second-place finish.  Stephanie Warnke was fifth with a time of 2:28.24.  Kayla Sveen finished eighth in 2:31.80.  Brooke Fritz placed ninth in 2:32.11.

Williams clocked a time of 23.22 seconds for a fifth-place finish in the men's 200-meter dash.  Berg was sixth in 23.55 seconds.  Justin Templeton was 32nd in 25.36 seconds.

Stephanie WarnkeIn 55-meter hurdles, Summer Bronson placed fifth with a time of 9.08 seconds.  David Sotir was ninth on the men's side with a time of 8.57 seconds.  Templeton was 15th (8.87 seconds), while Ely placed 19th in 10.62 seconds.

Berg finished seventh in the long jump.  He leaped with a measurement of 20 feet and 7.75 inches.

Steve Selchert recorded a time of 2:01.87 for a ninth-place finish in the men's 800-meter run.  Andy Quenzer was 11th (2:03.22).  Mark Moeller finished 13th with a time of 2:05.58.  Gabe Samuelson finished 15th in 2:05.84.

Victoria Sopko produced a tenth-place finish in the women's 600-meter run in 1:50.20.

DSU women's 4 x 400-meter relay team produced a fourth-place finish with a time of 4:16.32.  The men's 4 x 400-meter relay placed eighth in 3:34.68.

Other DSU runners placed in the meet are:  Claire Beck – 21st in 200-meter dash (29.62 seconds) and 22nd in 55-meter dash (8.10 seconds); Bronson – 16th in 200-meter dash (28.96 seconds); Anastasia Asimakopoulos – 19th in 3000-meter run (12:38.02); Amber Wiebenga  – 23rd in 3000-meter run (14:11.04); Taylor Hauge – 12th in one-mile run (4:52.63) and 18th in 3000-meter run (9:47.85); Hayden Erickson – 13th in 400-meter dash (55.53 seconds) and Jared Truman – 13th in 600-meter run (1:30.82).

Dakota State will be competing in two different meets next weekend.  The Trojans will take partial members of the team to the Iowa State Open on Jan. 18-19 in Ames, Iowa.  The majority of DSU track teams travel to Wayne, Neb. on Jan. 19 to participate in the Wildcat Open, hosted by Wayne State.
