Mustangs defeat Lady T’s in junior varsity action

MADISON, S.D. – The Dakota State University Lady T's junior varsity team returned back to action after a month-long break Monday evening at DSU Fieldhouse. Morningside (Iowa) defeated the Lady T's 77-68.
Dakota State's is in the third game of the current four-game home stand.
The Lady T's scored the first five points of the game to earn a 5-0 lead with eighteen minutes and 19 seconds left in the first-half. DSU extended their lead to 12-4 before Morningside answered back to tie at 12-12 with 12:33 left before intermission.
The Mustangs earned a 39-34 halftime advantage.
DSU rallied back to tie the game at 46-46 (15:25 left) with a 12-7 run.
With the game tied at 50-50, Morningside outscored the Lady T's 15-3 to take a 65-53 lead with 6:28 remaining.
DSU could get no closer than five points at 73-68 (1:35 left). The Mustangs sealed the game by converting four free-throws in the final 54 seconds of the game.
Kendra Lindblad poured in a game-high 30 points for the Lady T's. She was 10-for-17 from the field and drained nine 3-pointers in 15 attempts. Brittany Rosberg and Emily Fedders each added 12 points. Jayda Swenson had seven points.
Brooke Relf pulled down eight rebounds for DSU. She had three assists and four steals. Lindblad and Fedders each dished out three assists.
Mandy Osborne had 27 points and earned 11 rebounds for the Mustangs. She shot 12-for-17 from the field. Allison Bachman added 17 points. Charlee Johnson had 11 points. Anna Brandt, Jaci Katus and Sydney Gibson each had four assists. Bachman recorded seven steals.
Morningside shot 40.8 percent from the field (29-for-71) compared to the Lady T's 35.3 percent (18-for-51). DSU had 12 3-pointers in 23 attempts (52.2 percent), while MC was 5-for-22 from the 3-point arc (70 percent).
DSU went to the free-throw line 29 times in the game, converting 20 free-throws (69 percent). Morningside was 14-for-20 at the free-throw line (70 percent).
MC outrebounded Lady T's 43-37.
The Mustangs outscored DSU 42-12 inside the paint and 22-11 in second-chance points.
Dakota State Lady T's junior varsity team plays their final home game of the season on Tuesday, January 29. DSU hosts Northwestern (Iowa) at the DSU Fieldhouse. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
