NAIA DIVISION II MEN'S BASKETBALL NATIONAL POLL NO. 5
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Dakota State continues to receive votes to the latest NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, released Wednesday evening at the national office. The Trojans made their fifth straight appearance to the national poll.
Dakota State is currently 12-5 overall record this season, including an 83-65 victory to then-No. 10 Dordt (Iowa) on Jan. 9 at DSU Fieldhouse (DSU recorded their second victory over a ranked team this season). The Trojans dropped a 75-69 overtime loss to NCAA Division II South Dakota Mines in Rapid City on Jan. 12, but bounced back in the winning column on Jan. 13 with a 111-95 win at Oglala Lakota (S.D.).
DSU, a member of the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.), received five votes to the national poll. Two A.I.I. teams are ranked in the Top 25 as Rochester (Mich.) (No. 13) and Valley City State (N.D.) (No. 20) remained in the same position as last week.
Dakota State continues their action on the road this week. The Trojans visit their long-time rival Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) on Wednesday night. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, S.D. This weekend, DSU plays in the Dakota Tip-off Classic in Jamestown, N.D. The Trojans face the host-team Jamestown (N.D.) at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and independents. The sixth-regular season Coaches' Top 25 Poll will be announced on Jan. 22.
