Coy tabs A.I.I. Male Athlete of the Week

ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT INSTITUTIONS (A.I.I.) PLAYER OF THE WEEK RELEASE

Andy CoyMADISON, S.D. – The Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) selected Dakota State's Andy Coy as its Male Athlete of the Week honor, announced Monday morning.

Coy, a senior from Hill City, S.D, produced a NAIA national qualifying time in the men's one-mile run at the Iowa State Open on Jan. 19.  He clocked a time of four minutes and 13.53 seconds in his first meet of the season.  The time is also the current fastest time in the NAIA as he claimed the one-mile title that featured 59 runners from all school levels.

A three-time NAIA Indoor Track & Field All-American, Coy qualified for his fourth straight NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.  The national meet takes place on Feb. 28 to March 2 in Geneva, Ohio.

Andy is the son of Rusty and Cindy Coy.  He is majoring in Biology at Dakota State University.

Dakota State returns back to action on Saturday.  The Trojans compete in the Buena Vista Open in Storm Lake, Iowa.
