Lady T’s rout Trinity Bible (N.D.) in Coaches vs. Cancer game

MADISON, S.D. – Eleven different Dakota State Lady T's basketball players scored in the game Saturday afternoon in a 93-33 rout over Trinity Bible (N.D.) at the DSU Fieldhouse. Saturday marks the national wide Coaches vs. Cancer game to help raise cancer awareness.
Dakota State ended their four-game losing streak to raise their overall record to 6-13. Trinity Bible dropped to 9-12.
With the game tied at 9-9 with fourteen minutes and 57 seconds left in the first-half, the Lady T's outscored the Lions 37-10 to earn a 46-19 halftime lead.
Dakota State shot 55.9 percent from the field (19-for-34) in the first twenty minutes of the game. Trinity Bible was held to 6-for-35 from the field (17.1 percent) in the first half.
The Lady T's used a 22-1 scoring run to extend their lead to 68-20 with 10:43 left.
Trinity Bible made their first basket of the second-half with 10:02 remaining to cut Lady T's lead to 68-22.
DSU outscored the Lions 47-14 in the second-half.
Four Lady T's scored in double digits in the game. Kylie Westover and Courtney Hulstein each had 15 points. Cassie Jacobsen added 13 points. Jayda Swenson recorded a double-double of 10 points and pulled down 10 rebounds off the bench. Brittany Rosberg, Kendra Lindblad and Courtney Hamblin each had eight points.
Rosberg earned nine rebounds for DSU. Westover added seven boards and Rachel Novak grabbed six rebounds. Novak had three blocked shots.
Yui Onodera produced a game-high seven assists for the Lady T's. Julie Munson added five assists. Swenson had four assists.
Swenson stole the ball four times for Dakota State. Rosberg and Westover each had three steals.
Kelby Wiederhold scored nine points for Trinity Bible. Wiederhold and Kylie Flemmer each had four rebounds.
The Lady T's shot a sizzling 52.8 percent overall (38-for-72) from the field compared to the Lions' 18.6 percent (11-for-59). DSU was 8-for-28 from the 3-point arc (30.8 percent), while TBC did not make a 3-pointer in 10 attempts.
TBC converted 11 free-throws in 21 attempts (52.4 percent). The Lady T's were 9-for-12 from the free-throw line (75 percent).
DSU outrebounded the Lions 54-33.
The Lady T's outscored the Lions 22-4 in fast-break points, 26-8 in points off turnovers and 46-20 inside the paint.
DSU had 25 assists and 17 steals in the game. Trinity Bible recorded six assists and four steals.
Dakota State heads on the road on Monday night. The Lady T's travel to Mayville, N.D. to take on No. 20 Mayville State (N.D.) in an Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) conference game. Tip-off from the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse is set for 7 p.m.
