DSU to face Northern New Mexico in first round of A.I.I. Men’s Basketball Tournament

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Dakota State is the third-seed in the six-team 2013 Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Division II Men's Basketball Conference Postseason Tournament, hosted by Jamestown (N.D.). The pairings and brackets were announced on Sunday night.
Dakota State (19-9 overall record) will face sixth-seed Northern New Mexico (11-16) in the first round of the A.I.I. Tournament on Friday evening. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Civic Center.
The other first round pairing features the host-team No. 5 seed Jamestown (N.D.) (13-17) and No. 4 seed Ashford (Iowa) (19-11 record) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Rochester (Mich.) (20-3) earned the top-seed in the tournament, while Valley City State (N.D.) (21-7) is the second-seed. Both teams received a bye in the first-round.
VCSU will play the winner of DSU-Northern New Mexico game in the first semifinal game on Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m. The winner of JC-Ashford game will play the top-seed Rochester (Mich.) in the second semifinal game at 7:30 p.m.
The two semifinal winners each will earn an automatic bid to the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Tournament and a spot in the A.I.I. championship game to be held on Sunday, Feb. 24. The championship game is slated to start at 4:30 p.m.
The NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Tournament takes place in Point Lookout, Mo. on March 6-12.

Saturday, Feb. 23
Game 3: No. 2 seed Valley City State (N.D.) (21-7) vs. Game 1 winner - 5:30 p.m.
Game 4: No. 1 seed Rochester (Mich.) (20-3) vs. Game 2 winner – 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, Feb. 24
Both teams qualify for NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Tournament in Point Lookout, Mo.
Game 5: Game 3 winner vs. Game 4 winner – 4:30 p.m.
