Three DSU men’s basketball athletes named to A.I.I. All-Tournament Team

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Three Dakota State University athletes were named to the 2013 Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Division II Men's Basketball All-Tournament team, announced after the conclusion of the A.I.I. men's basketball championship game Sunday evening at the Civic Center.
Tyrone Gordon, Jr., Luke Lamb and Yusuf Vinson were named to the All-Tournament team. Below are the averages that each player recorded during three A.I.I. tournament games (athlete's last name, position, year, parents, hometown, major at DSU):
Gordon, Jr. (guard; senior; Tyrone Gordon, Jr. and Tonya Frasier; Milwaukee, Wis.; Physical Education): 9.7 points, 2.3 steals, 4.7 rebounds, 6.0 assists- Luke Lamb (forward; senior; Kathy Lamb; Altoona, Iowa; Business Management/Marketing): 16.3 points, 1.7 steals, 7.0 rebounds, 0.7 assists
- Vinson (forward; junior; Stephanie Vinson; Lincoln, Neb.; Physical Education): 14.0 points, 1.7 steals, 7.7 rebounds, 0.7 blocks, 1.0 assists
Dakota State won their second straight A.I.I. Division II Men's Basketball Conference Tournament, defeating Northern New Mexico, Valley City State (N.D.) and Jamestown (N.D.). The Trojans trailed at halftime, but mounted a furious comeback in the final twenty minutes in each game for the victory.
DSU had set a school record for most wins in team history, currently with 22 wins (previous old mark was 20 wins, which happened twice during 1990-91 and 1966-67 seasons). The Trojans had recorded eight wins in the last 10 games to produce a 22-9 overall record.
