Boomsma & Coy earn runner-up honors at NAIA Indoor Track & Field Nationals

Andy Coy receiving his runner-up honor at NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championship.GENEVA, Ohio – Seth Boomsma (sophomore – Crooks, S.D.) and Andy Coy (senior – Hill City, S.D.) earned runner-up honors on the final day of the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championship meet at the SPIRE Institute Sports Complex Saturday afternoon.  The Trojan men's track team finished 17th overall with 16 points.

Assistant Coach Anthony Drealan, D'Artist Williams, Seth Boomsma, Andy Coy, Kayla Sveen, Brooke Fritz, Stephanie Warnke, Stephanie Uher, Head Coach Buzz Stevenson at NAIA Indoor Track & Field NationalsBoomsma clocked a time of 6.75 seconds for a second-place finish in the men's 60-meter dash finals.  David Walters of Langston (Okla.) won the race with a time of 6.69 seconds.  As a result, Boomsma earned NAIA All-American honor.

Coy recorded a second-place in the men's 1000-meter run with a time of two minutes and 28 seconds.  He was .07 seconds short behind Dante Carter, the race winner from Dickinson State (N.D.) – 2:27.93.

Seth Boomsma with head coach Buzz Stevenson at NAIA Indoor Track & Field Nationals.Coy earned his fourth straight NAIA Indoor Track & Field All-American honor in his stellar indoor track & field career at Dakota State.  He recorded his seventh overall NAIA All-American honors (three-time NAIA Outdoor Track & Field All-American).

Dakota State prepares for outdoor track & field season opener on March 28.  The Trojans host its home meet – Trojan Invitational – at the Trojan Field.
