2013 DSU FOOTBALL SIGNED RECRUITS

DSU Football Head Coach Josh AndersonMADISON, S.D. – Dakota State University head football coach Josh Anderson is proud to announce the signing of eight additional recruits to the 2013 recruiting class.

Below is the eight recruits added to the Trojan Football recruiting class (name, position, height, weight, high school, parents' name, coach; intended major, honors & awards and coach's quote):

Lane Hovde, DB – 5'11" – 165 – Willow Lake High School, son of Brian and Sandy Hovde of Willow Lake, S.D.;  Coach:  Joel Huber; Intended Major:  Exercise Science.  "Lane knows what it takes to work hard for success as his football and basketball teams had a great amount of success this year."

Jeremiah Ieremia – OL – 6'1" – 295 – East Anchorage High School, son of Fa'afetai and Salafai Ieremia of Anchorage, Alaska; Coach:  Jeff Trotter; Intended Major:  Exercise Science; two-time 2nd team All-Conference; "Jeremiah is a big boy that moves incredibly well.  He's a lot quicker than he looks, but the best part is that he's a very coachable young man.  He could play either side of the ball for us, but we need the depth, and his skills, at offensive line."

Davin McKinney – OL – 6'1" – 270 – Nottingham High School, Transfer:  Alfred State; son of Earlene Coker of Syracuse, N.Y.; Coach:  Paul Sealey; Intended Major:  Undecided; All-City Team, Best Offensive Lineman Award, two-time Team Captain; "Davin does a great job of snapping and moving his feet at the same time.  He has great skills for an offensive lineman, especially at center." 

Zach Reiss – QB – 5'7" – 175 – Shepherd High School, son of John Dehoyos and Robyn Reiss-Dehoyos of Shepherd, Mont.; Coach:  Adam Sanchez; Intended Major:  Sports Medicine; All-Conference (quarterback), 2nd team All-Conference, three-time Most Valuable Player, three-time Team Captain, three-time Gold Medalist, selected to Class 'B' All-Star game as quarterback, Academic All-State, Honor Roll.  "Zach is a versatile quarterback that can also run the ball very well.  We like the face that he is such a talented athlete that he can help us at any skill spot on the offense.

Justin Skewis – OL – 6'4" – 285 – Riverdale High School, son of Walter Skewis and Connie Uriarte of Fort Myers, Fla.; Coach:  John Bailey; Intended Major:  Biology; Player of the Game; "Justin is another big boy with an aggressive first punch.  He looked every bit as athletic in person as he did on his film.  He will make a big impact on our offensive line.

Marcus Teller – WR – 5'9" – 175 – Woods Cross High School, son of Mike and Terra Teller of Bountiful, Utah; Coach:  Justin Spencer; Intended Major:  Undecided; two-time All-Region, three-time Most Valuable Player, two-time Navajo Athlete award; National Underclassman wide receiver; four-year starter, Team Captain, Honor Roll, National Honor Society; "Marcus is a quick and shifty wide receiver.  He runs excellent routes and catches the ball with ease.  He'll help our depth at wide receiver and the punt and kickoff return positions as well."

Ashton Thrash – DE – 6'5" – 195 – Silver Valley High School, son of Samuel Thrash and Donna Pledger of Newberry Springs, Calif.; Coach:  John Stewart; Intended Major:  Graphic Design; "Ashton is raw as he's only been playing football for 2-and-half years, but he's got all the skills necessary to be an effective defensive end for us.  He's a coachable kid who will develop and help when he's ready."

Eric Wahl – OL – 6'4" – 220 – Port Angeles High School, son of Tom and Paula Wahl of Port Angeles, Wash.; Coach:  Tom Wahl; Intended Major:  Computer and Network Security; 2nd Team All-Conference center, Honorable Mention All-Conference Defensive End, 2012 Applebee's Player of the Week, 2012 Varsity Player of the Week, Honorable Mention All-Conference Center in 2011, 2011 White Helmet Award, two-time State playoff participant, 2011 Silver Level Wrestler of the Year, 2013 Wrestling State Tournament qualifier, 2013 two-time Gold Level Wrestler of the Week, 2013 Wrestling Team League and Regional Champions, placed eighth in 2013 State Wrestling Tournament, also lettered in track, weightlifting club (1500-lbs. level), Eagle Scout, 2012-13 ASB Vice-President; "Eric is very tall and athletic for an Offensive Linemen, and he impressed all of us with his skills and agility.  I look forward to seeing him compete for a position on the offensive line this fall."
