KDLT Sports Taco John's Athlete of the Week led Dakota State to its first conference title in 13 years and brought the Trojans to the NAIA Cross Country National Championships as well. As Jason Anschutz tells us, Tyler Van Peursem has gone the distance.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that a total of 254 women's and 170 men's cross country runners have been named 2009 Daktronics-NAIA Women's/Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athletes. Four DSU runners had been named to this honor. In addition, one DSU runner was named to NAIA Champions of Character award.

The meet was held at the Fort Vancouver National Historical Site, hosted by Cascade Collegiate Conference and Concordia (Ore.) University.

The Dakota State University cross country teams are preparing for the 53rd Annual NAIA Men's and 30th Annual Women's NAIA Cross Country National Championships Saturday. It will be held at the Fort Vancouver Historical Site in Vancouver, Wash. The meet is hosted by the Cascade Collegiate Conference and Concordia (Ore.) University.

The men's cross country team made history as they captured their first ever DAC Conference championship. The women's team finished fourth.
