Anthony Drealan named DSU Cross Country Head Coach

MADISON, S.D. - Dakota State University Athletic Director Jeff Dittman announced today that Anthony Drealan has been named the head cross country coach. He will also serve as the Trojans' assistant track and field coach along with duties as an instructor at DSU.

VANCOUVER, Wash. - Andy Coy ran his career best-place finisher at the 57th Annual NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championship meet Saturday at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. It was Coy's final career collegiate cross country meet at DSU.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the team and individual qualifiers for the 2012 Men's and Women's Cross Country National Championships on Monday. The 57th Annual Men's and 33rd Annual Women's event will take place at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Wash. on Saturday, Nov. 17. The women's 5K run will start at 10:30 a.m. (Pacific Standard Time)/12:30 p.m. (Central Standard Time, followed by the men's 8K race at 11:45 a.m. (PST)/1:45 p.m. (CST).

SAN MARCOS, Calif. - Senior Andy Coy (Hill City, S.D.) of Dakota State University produced a sixth-place finish Saturday at the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Cross Country Championship meet held at the Mangrum Track and Soccer Field Complex, hosted by Cal State San Marcos. The DSU men's team finished fifth as a team, while the Trojan women's placed sixth in the conference meet.

THIS WEEK: Dakota State prepares for the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Cross Country Championships on Saturday. The Trojans will travel to San Marcos, Calif. to compete in the independent conference meet. The women's 5K race kicks off at 11 a.m. (Central Time)/9 a.m. (Pacific Time), followed by the men's 8K race at approximately 12 noon (Central Time)/10 a.m. (Pacific Time).

YANKTON, S.D. - The Dakota State University cross country teams ran in the 19th Annual Graphic Edge Invitational, hosted by Mount Marty College, on Saturday morning at the Human Service Center. The Trojan women's team placed 12th with 336 points. The DSU men's team did not compete in the team portion, but had several athletes and unattached runners place in the 8K race. It was the final regular-season cross country meet as they prepare for the Independent Conference meet in two weeks.

MADISON, S.D./ST. PAUL, Minn. - Dakota State placed six women's runners in the top 15 in the annual Trojan Day 5K Run Saturday morning as part of DSU's homecoming festivities. The Trojan men's cross country team competed in the 27th Annual Roy Griak Invitational at the Les Bolstad Golf Course, which featured numerous NCAA Division II and top quality NAIA schools in the race.
