KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Defending National Champion Malone (Ohio) has been picked as the No. 1 team in the NAIA Men's Cross Country Preseason Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Wednesday. Dakota State ranks No. 15 with 273 points in the national poll. It was the highest rank in school history since 2009 where the Trojans rank No. 19 in the final national poll.

The preseason conference polls were released for the Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) men's and women's cross country. The preseason conference polls are used to determine the NAIA's Top 25 rankings and potential at-large bids at the end of the season as a team to qualify for NAIA Nationals. The Trojan men's team ranks first in the preseason poll while the Trojan women's team ranks third. The preseason national cross country rankings will be released on Aug. 25 (Wednesday).

Dakota State University Athletics announced today that it plans to leave the Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) in July of 2011. DSU plans to continue its association with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) as an independent member and will apply to be a part of the NAIA’s Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) group. The plan will be reviewed with the South Dakota Board of Regents at their August meeting.

Dakota State coach Amy Veenhof has a much better idea of the volleyball team she'll have next fall after the Lady Trojans concluded their spring season this past weekend. As the wet weather continues in the Midwest, the Dakota State at Dordt (IA) softball doubleheader scheduled for Tuesday, March 24th has been postponed to Wednesday, April 8th at 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm in Sioux Center, IA.

(SIOUX FALLS) - The Trojan Baseball team returned back to action Wednesday as they traveled to Sioux Falls, SD to take their in-state rival University of Sioux Falls. The Trojans split a doubleheader with the Cougars losing game one 2-1, and rallied back for game two win, 7-3 to lift Trojans' record to 11-9 for the season.

Mitchell, SD - The Dakota State University softball team extended their winning streak to five games as they swept in-state rival Dakota Wesleyan in a non-conference doubleheader in Mitchell, S.D. The Trojans defeated the Tigers 3-0 and 6-4 and spoiled the Tigers' season home opener at Caldwell Park. With the sweep the Trojans handed the Tigers their sixth straight loss.

Dakota State University's Lady T's raced to a 47-27 halftime edge over Mayville State University on Wednesday in Madison. The Lady T's went on to hand Mayville an 87-64 defeat and, in the process, claimed a share of the Dakota Athletic Conference regular-season championship.
